The visually impairedmust rely on sensory cues other than vision to memorise objects. People who have been blind since birth have the ability to experience visual sensations in the brain. But due to the lack of visualisation they fail to illustrate. To help enhance visual imagery, we have created the ‘Braille Tab’. Why visual memory? The only way of helping visually impaired children understand the world accurately is by stimulating the other senses – be it touch, hearing, smell, or taste. Tactile materials play a vital role in the education of blind children because they help create a more accurate mental image of the objects around them.
Out of all the research going on in the field of haptic technology, one of the most prominent research is the development and designing of Haptic Assistive Technology for the young aged visually impaired kids. Encouraged by the research on haptic technology, we have undertaken the project to develop a prototype which triggers the braille images of the keyword extracted from the audio.
